Making A Great Drink

I have always been someone who really enjoys hanging out with friends, but one thing I learned early on was that drinks in bars can be incredibly expensive. I decided that I should start trying to learn to make my own drinks just to save money, and it was really amazing to me to see how much better a freshly-made beverage really was. I wanted to start a website all about making great drinks from the comfort of your own home. Check out this great information to learn more and enjoy your time away from work. I know that it has helped me!

Tips For Getting The Most From Your Wine

A wine collection is an excellent investment for those that enjoy having this type of beverage with their meals. However, it is common for individuals to inadvertently degrade their wine through improper storage of it. In order to help you maximize the quality of your wine drinking experience, there are a few tips that you should be following.

Avoid Exposure To Heat

Exposure to heat is one of the more damaging mistakes that people will make with their wine. Whether this heat is from the wine being stored near the stove or fireplace, it is possible for this heat to cause the taste of the wine to sour. In addition to avoiding placing the wine near a direct source of heat, you should also be mindful of keeping the wine out of direct sunlight as this could also heat the wine and cause it to degrade. Ideally, you should store your wine in a cool and dark part of the home. This is a large part of the reason that the basement is often the preferred storage area as it will keep the wine safe until you decide that you are ready to drink it.

Store The Wine On Its Side

While it may seem like it will be more space efficient to store the wine vertically, this can be rather damaging to the cork. Over time, it can be possible for the cork to dry out, and this can cause it to become extremely brittle. When this occurs, you may find that the cork is more prone to splitting, breaking or otherwise allowing small pieces of it to fall into the wine as you open it. By storing the wine bottles on their sides, you can help to keep the cork moist so that these problems will be avoided.

Invest In A Wine Decanter

It is a common mistake for individuals to attempt to drink their wine immediately after opening the bottle. However, this can be a mistake as wine is often best when it has had a small amount of time to aerate. This allows many of the subtle flavors in the wine to be released. For this reason, it can be worth it to invest in a wine decanter. By pouring the wine into this container several minutes before you plan on drinking it, you can help to release these flavors and aromas. While it may be tempting to try and save any wine that you did not consume, this is unlikely to work as the wine will rapidly degrade within hours of being poured.
